On May 6th, Luxco® partnered with Aero Charter Jet Center to provide much needed assistance to the Endangered Wolf Center in Eureka, Missouri.

The center’s mission is to preserve and protect wolves and carefully reintroduce them into the wild. Most recently, the Endangered Wolf Center needed assistance fostering the birth of newly born wolf “pups” and re-introducing them into a wild wolf sanctuary in rural Arizona.

Under “normal” circumstances the center would simply fly their personnel and pups in small pet carriers on a commercial flight. However, the most critical aspect of this sort of mission is timing. The newborn pups need to be transported approximately a week after being born and then placed in the new den within a day or two after, to ensure the den mother will accept them. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the cancellation of necessary commercial flights, the center reached out to Aero Charter – the company who co-operates Luxco airplanes – to see if any owners would donate their planes for the mission.

For Donn it was an easy decision: “My family has been involved with animal-related charities my entire life and this was a natural fit. Further, in learning more about the center, it was founded by Marlin Perkins, the original founder of the St. Louis Zoo. My father Paul was chairman of the zoo, and he knew Marlin Perkins!”

Donn and his family were at the airport to send the pups to their new home via a ride on the Luxco plane. The mission went off without a hitch, and the pups were successfully delivered to their new home in Arizona.
