Lord of the Grill Fires up Facebook
The ‘Lord of the Grill’ 2015 Sweepstakes was a big success, with a total of 417,897 sweepstakes entries! More than 1,000 instant prizes were awarded, including 590 BBQ sauce sets, 105 BBQ grilling utensil sets, 105 Igloo coolers, 210 folding camp chairs and 90 Weber grills. The grand prize, estimated at $3,500 was 350+ lbs of meat (an entire cow) and a 21 cubic foot freezer for storage.
Custom point-of-sale materials such as posters, neck hangers and recipe cards were utilized in the sweepstakes, along with a $5 rebate on-pack code/call-to-action to drive consumers to the Lord Calvert Facebook page to register. In addition, consumers were eligible to win instant prizes each day, which kept them engaged. All of that translated to a big impact on the Lord Calvert Facebook presence. Not only did our grand-prize winner post there, the Lord Calvert page gained more than 35,000 fans from May 22nd to September 7th – a growth rate of 2,760%.

Once the cow arrives, it will be used in many cookouts over the next year and will be shared with friends and family,” John Zegel, grand-prize winner, wrote on Facebook.
