Ross & Squibb Distillery® was in the spotlight when renowned bourbon expert, author and podcaster Fred Minnick hosted one of his popular Blind Bourbon LIVE tasting events in February. Featuring whiskeys primarily produced at Ross & Squibb – with a few from sister distilleries – the event was held in Ross & Squibb’s hometown of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

“I’ve never done a tasting like this where I’ve showcased just one distillery,” said Minnick. “Most of them won’t do it but the team at Ross & Squibb and Luxco® are different and great to work with.”

More than 200 participants took part in the professional blind tasting led by Minnick. “Anytime I have an audience that knows bourbon and they ask me questions, I get so stoked, especially when it’s about a distillery or a bourbon,” said Minnick.

“To be able to do this with Fred Minnick, and the crowd he had here, that’s one of the most exciting things about this,” said Lux Row Distillers® Master Distiller John Rempe. “These people know bourbon, and for them to be able to taste it, smell it and then give instant feedback right there in front of you – that’s very exciting for me.”

Guests sampled releases from Ross & Squibb spirits Remus® Bourbon, Rossville Union® Straight Rye Whiskey and Penelope® Bourbon, as well as allocated releases from Luxco’s Kentucky distilleries Limestone Branch® and Lux Row. At the end of the night, Remus Highest Rye® Bourbon was selected as the crowd’s favorite and will be entered into Minnick’s Top 100 Bourbons of the Year.

“Events like this are important because they give us a chance to connect with our community,” said Ian Stirsman, Master Distiller at Ross & Squibb. “I think it’s great for people in Lawrenceburg to hear how important the Ross & Squibb distillery is to the world of whiskey from a respected voice like Fred Minnick.”

It was a great night for so many of our brands, and guests walked away learning more about our award-winning portfolio. Minnick sang the praises of Luxco and Ross & Squibb throughout the event, laying the foundation for potential future events in other markets.
